Two Cedar Rapids Rotarians will begin a Flight Around the World to End Polio March 24th.
Our speakers at the February 18, 2020 meeting Peter Teahen and John Ockenfels are raising awareness for polio eradication by piloting a single-engine aircraft all the way around the globe in 51 days. Only 700 pilots in history have ever achieved this feat and less than 300 are alive today.

Peter and John will take off from Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 24, 2020, in a Piper Lance (single-engine) airplane. Along the way, they will encourage the support of ending polio forever throughout the world.

Both Peter and John are pilots, Rotarians and members of the Fellowship of Flying Rotarians. Polio eradication has been a primary focus of Rotary for over 35 years and continues to be a major initiative. While the end of polio may be near, no child anywhere is safe until every child has been vaccinated. Click here for more information and how you can donate.
