United by Water: Hope in Salina Cruz, Oaxaca Mexico is a project needing a Rotary Club partner located in a country outside of Mexico.  If the Rotary Club of Dubuque would contribute to this project, they could proceed with a water salination project serving the area for years to come.  Currently Salina Cruz, located in Oaxaca, Mexico, largely relies on regional water infrastructure, including transfers from the Tehuantepec aquifer, deep wells, and rivers to support its needs . Due to potential scarcity, water is also supplied via piped mains-fed systems or local tanker trucks (pipas).  Salina Cruz, Oaxaca, faces significant potable water shortages due to regional droughts, reduced rainfall, and overextended infrastructure, often resulting in intermittent supply where water flows only once every 20 to 39 days. The crisis forces residents to rely on paid water trucks, recycle household water, or use private wells.
