Hempstead and Dubuque Online School Interact Club is a service and humanitarian group that is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Dubuque. Interact Club does community service projects locally and internationally. Service projects like: Bread for Backpacks (Panera night to raise money for backpacks for our students in need), Campus Clean Ups, Holiday Help partnering with Rotary Club Dubuque, Notes of Kindness for the Community and/or Veterans, annual International project, Red Basket Project, collaboration with other service groups at Hempstead, and many more service opportunities as they come up or as students create them! |

People In Need (PIN)
People In Need is founded on the belief that the spiritual health of a whole community and of its individual members depends on care for one another. PIN accepts financial contributions from groups and individuals, and it assists those temporarily in need by offering limited help in exceptional circumstances through direct payments to clients’ creditors, for rent, utilities, medical and other basic needs. Since 1983, over 6,000 individuals or families have been assisted by PIN and the organization run totally by volunteers. |

The Presentation Lantern Center
The mission of the Presentation Lantern Center is to offer hospitality, education and advocacy to adult immigrants who are striving to better their lives. At Presentation Lantern Center visitors are greeted by staff and volunteers. They receive a tutor with whom they study English; they learn practical life skills to use in a new country; they meet many people from other countries of origin; they share their stories and cultures; and they experience so much more! Since 2002, we have served over 2,000 immigrants, including children and aided 124 immigrants in obtaining U.S. citizenship. |
